Fall Camporee
Usually end of September or early October
Either Camp Allamuchy or Camp Winnebago
Any scout who is a member of Pack 31, including their parents and siblings
A camporee is an opportunity for lots of Cub Scout packs to get together for a weekend of outdoor fun.
We will have 45 minute activity blocks scheduled all day on Saturday (8 AM - 4 PM or so), with some down time in between to hike, fish etc. Events and schedule TBD -- we will find out schedule on Saturday morning - but activities typically involve things like BB guns, archery, STEM, craft, cooking / camping demos., etc.
We eat dinner together in a large mess hall, followed by a big camp-wide fire (with songs and skits-- we’ll perform our own and practice during the day!) and our own campfire back at the campsite.
Sunday morning is breakfast, packing up, and a little more outdoors time--check-out is 11 AM latest.
Parking Permit - Completed by all (even day visitors) and placed in the driver’s side of car.
Check-in - Make sure all families stop into registration before going to campsite to check in. You'll get a map and activity schedule for the pack, along with a wrist band. ACTIVITIES START at 8:00 AM, so the earlier you can get there the better. We should have our schedule on Thursday/Friday. We will email everyone the schedule and post it on our Facebook page on Friday.
Check-out - Begins at 8:30am Sun. We must be checked out by 11 AM Sunday!
Wristbands - Everyone MUST have a wristband—obtain at check in.
BUDDY SYSTEM - Everyone needs a buddy – under NO circumstances are any children to be walking around camp by themselves.
Arriving Late? Leaving Early? You MUST sign in / out at the Camporee check in tent.
All Leaders must wear the Class A Uniform. Scouts wear the Class A Uniform all day. Scouts may choose to leave the hat, neckerchief, slide and belt home and just wear the blue shirt.
BRING COLD WEATHER GEAR! It is expected to be in a nice night, but it never hurts to bring a ski hat to sleep in. ALSO—bring a blanket IN ADDITION TO your sleeping bag for max warmth!
***NO FOOD IN TENTS!!! IF YOU BRING FOOD, PLEASE PLAN PUTTING IN CAR BEFORE BEDTIME TO DISCOURAGE VISITORS...***
Saturday Breakfast – Eat beforehand
Saturday Lunch – Check if lunch is provided or not, it can vary from year to year. Otherwise you'll need to bring your own lunch.
Saturday Dinner - PROVIDED if you’ve ordered. See Cub Scout Master for your food ticket.
Saturday Night Campfire S'mores - Assignments will be made to each den on what to bring (chocolate/graham crackers/marshmallows)
Sunday Breakfast – either on your own; or you’ve pre-ordered breakfast at dining hall.
Plan for cooler weather – It can be about 10 to 15 degrees cooler than here in Denville.
Always be prepared for rain.
There are bears.
NO FOOD, GUM / CANDY OR TOOTHPASTE IN YOUR TENT. No food at the site overnight.
Liquid fuels are allowed (e.g. Coleman lanterns, stoves, etc) BUT they should NEVER be in the tent, carried or unattended. Pack light!
Watch for ticks! Check yourself and your children carefully.
No Alcohol or drugs period. Our entire PACK will be asked to leave if drugs or alcohol are found on the premises of our site. From there you will be kicked out of scouting all together. Not kidding!!
If you smoke: do not smoke where kids can see you. YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE BEHAVIOR OF YOUR KIDS.
There is often some down time where you can go on a hike or fish or just hang out. NOTE: Fishing license is required for adults—not for kids.
On Sunday morning, if you could promptly tear down your tent and pack up, we’d appreciate it. You are free to fish or hike that morning (until 11:00AM), but we need to get the site inspected before we can go home and if one person leaves their tent up and goes fishing, that makes our jobs A LOT more difficult! Your cooperation is appreciated in this matter.
